Old thread but I'll add to it anyway.

I also swaped flanges on my 260/6 and encountered the problem of the larger output shaft interfering with the driveshaft. I solved the problem by simply drilling a hole inside the front half of the stock 325i driveshaft with a 5/8" drill bit to make some room for the output shaft. The guibo now slides easily all the way against the output flange.

The output shaft on a 260/6 is tapered while the 260 is smooth. I thought made mine work by getting a custom guibo made by revshift that is 5mm thicker than a standard one, but it is just bending grade 8 bolts like it is nothing. Going to have to swap big flange back and run an E28 front with the big guibo. Just want to save the headache/money for others.
I had the same problem (except was with a G265) I ended up spacing the motor up and bringing the transmission down to mate directly, ie: without flex, to the guibo. (I made my own engine mounts and modified the transmission cross member myself)

You want no flex OR stretch whatsoever on those things otherwise you will chew through them like crazy!

I also just had the large guibo flange welded onto my e30 tailshaft (also had it shortened at the same time) thing fit perfectly.

sorry i didnt see this before you started. if you switch the to the smaller flange you have to shorten the output shaft on the transmission but it will allow you to use the stock 325 ds. I did this on mine and it still runs fine. wayyy easier than a custom driveshaft.

I am using a 260/6 ... I tried to swap the flange to the smaller to use my stock driveshaft. 260 was in reference to the M20 trans.

Why not just use the 260/6?
The 260/6 is an upgraded, stronger 260/5. BMW switched from the 260/5 to the 260/6 on the m30 cars for a reason.

I can confirm everything matches up. I will let you guys know if the stock driveshaft works without a hitch. I will be using a B35 with Good and Tight mounts in the forward position.

I can't speak for the rust belt on this one, but for california the output flanges come right off.

    amazon.com + thinwall deep 30mm socket = FTW.

hold flange in place by adding a wheel pin from the BMW tool kit to a 22mm open end wrench + one of the guibo holes. remove lock washer, un-do 30mm nut. slide off output flange with your hand and swap.

use a 1/2" impact, if you do it another way and have to heat.... replace the seal

You need to get a thin walled socket to get it off. I used a ground down impact socket, you can borrow it if you have trouble finding one that will work. Lemme know when it's go time!
