    M30 distributor relocation

    Has anyone done this?
I'm pretty sure it's been done on an m20 but I hav't seen it done on an m30.
I couldn't find anything searching around.

I was thinking about doing this because of how close it is to the radiator with the position most people on here have their m30s at. It would be relocated to the battery tray.

Thoughts? Potential problems with doing this?

You talking about a coil pack or actually relocating the distributor?

If coil pack it's the same as m20.

You don't know how a distributor works, do you?

Megasquirt and a coil pack or individual coils will solve the problem.

I'm NOT talking about the coil. I already moved the coil to the other side of the shock tower on the battery tray side. And I DO know how a distributor works. The problem as I see it, which no one else mentioned, is that it needs the camshaft timing to rotate, so if it's not connected to the cam, then its rotating shaft needs to be rotated some other way.. Are we not allowed to ask questions on this board now?

So I bought a distributor block off plate on mye28 and am planning on wasted spark. Distributor delete for the win.

^^^ What he said. That's the only way to eliminate the distributor up front and run off the crank signal.

Other than being close to the radiator why are you considering it? I believe there are some benefits when going forced induction for stronger spark at high pressures but not sure of other benefits except cosmetic maybe? What mounts are you using and in what position that has distributor almost touching radiator?

I like the look of no distributor on front of motor but have gone with Miller's WAR setup so I can't do it and already have decent clearance from radiator with Otis mounts in the back position which puts the back of the head real close to the firewall.
