Idleing Problem..??

Heres the delema my 1984 318i will start and stay running only if i pump the gas pedal and keep the revs up I tried some things yet....it will not idle correctly what could be the problem ???thank you for your opinion and help for those that reply....

I actually had the exact same problem with mine. Check for vacuum leaks. Make sure your idle control valve and idle control module are working correctly. I got tired of chasing down that problem myself, and decided to do an M30 swap. Well, atleast that's the excuse I like to use...lol
