Stock or aftermarket CAI with M30 AFM?

    Hey guys,
I already got an M30 AFM, 19lbs injectors, and a chip to do the swap on my 91 325ic.

So, now the question comes to the CAI. I read about the stock M20 air box is as best as it will get regarding CAI's on stock engines. However, my car will now have the M30 AFM together with the bigger injectors and the chip (designed for 19# injectors) installed.

So, my question is: should I get an aftermarket CAI like that from Kamotors or keep the stock airbox attached (using couplers) to the M30 AFM?

    Thanks a lot in advance!!

If you have a stock B35 airbox I would use that with a good filter and a larger snorkel on the end. The stock snorkel/trumpet necks down a bit at the end and may be a restriction at higher revs. I like the looks of the Kamotors piece but doubt it gives much if any increase over the B35 setup.

That's the thing, I only have a stock B25 airbox (325i). Sorry I did not make that clear. That's why the question of whether keep the stock airbox or buy an aftermarket CAI. I only have the AFM out of an M30 engine.

      What do you think?

Thanks a lot for the response!

        ohhhh, ok.

You have an m20 with a m30 afm.

Keep the stock airbox with all the parts that make it a cai
        and it'll be good.

If you think it's going to restrict power get a vac gauge, hook it up to your manifold,
Do some before and after pulls and if vac doesn't change before/after it flows enough 4 u.

Just found out that fitting an M30 AFM to an M20 airbox is not a piece of cake. Actually, I PITA. So, I guess I'll buy the CAI from Kamotors...wish me luck.
          Cheers and thanks!
