    Crank position Sensor

    Hi

Im browsing the web to find good price on CPS for my M30b34 535i 86

On the Pelican part website i got this info:

Position Sensor For Motronic Ignition (2 per car, sold individually) 533i (1983-84), 535i/is (1985-88), Each Brand: Bosch

Do i really need 2 sensor ? Bcuze its the only shop to say this.

I also came on this site to find this

    https://www.autopartsway.ca/PartDeta...sition_Sensor/

Is it the good thing ? Because they had 2 CPS for sale, one said it was located in the timing cover and this one located in the bellhousing ?

I'm Kind of confuse right now !

You have an early m30 (b34 which is motronic 1.1) so your crank sensor is on the bell housing and gets input from the flywheel teeth. I'm almost positive there is also a reference sensor on the vibration dampener. The later m30 (b35 is motronic 1.3) and only has the single crank sensor on the vibration dampener. This is the same for m20 (early b27/later b25)

Only '85 production year of 535i they put g265 on manual cars. The older g265 bell housing has 2 cps sensors on it.
