    Driveshaft Too Long???

So I just got my m30b35 in my e30 and it was time tonight to put the driveshaft in. Im using an e28 535i front shaft with my stock '87 325i back halfshaft and its too long by a couple inches. The carrier bearing wont even line up either. Ive done a TON of reading on this swap and im now stumped because I thought this combination of driveshafts was the way to go? If anyone can help thatd be awesome.

I used that setup with a b34 / g265. Ended up having to shorten the front half by a couple inches. No vibration at 100+ mph so it can be done. Who's mounts are you using?

Using the m30 tranny. And e30.de mounts. Yea its too long by a couple inches. Didnt know if i needed to get it shortened or if there is nother front shaft out there that will work.

M30 came with g260 and g265. They are not exactly the same.
If you have g265 with e30de motor mounts on position 3 which is the furthest back towards the fire wall, you need to shorten the early style small guibo driveshaft by 2 1/4" on the front half, and leave the rear half completely stock.

The m30 tranny is a big guibo transmission though. I just found out i have an e30 m3 front shft with my rear stock shaft. I picked everything up from a guy who wasnt sure.

                Which one is your?

Take a look at these, and find out which one you have.

                    So you have a g260/6.
IIRC the front half of the driveshaft would be from e34 manual 535i, not of e28.
According to a DIY write up, motor mounts might not be e30.de in order to make this combination work.

You can use the E28 one and get it shortened and balanced though.

Im guessing either way im going to have to have the ds shortened. Does it matter if its the front or rear because everywhere ive gone they tell me they cant rebalance my front shaft...sucks.

They rebalance the whole thing. Just shorten the front. Measure from the back of the guibo to the center of the center support bearing holes. That is the measurement they need.

The question is if your e30de motor mounts are the same as his.

I've read that DIY article, the guy used the front-half of e34 535i manual driveshaft mated with e30 rear-half driveshaft, no cut, no weld. He mentioned that he didn't get any vibration at 100+ mph.

I have a B35 with a 260/6 and Otis' mounts in the rear position with an 87 eta big guibo ds that fit with no modification.
