thermostat housing

i was trying to remove the housing and when i loosened the hose clamp and pulled it took the connector with the hose. now it slides in and out of the housing with little resistence. is this normal? should i shim this some how? do i just need a new housing?



it is that smaller hose on the bottom of the housing. any help would be appreciated.
