THAT much air in the system?

I went to bleed the cooling system yesterday in the m30 and the thermostat was stuck and radiator was staying cool. New thermostat in today, it opens, and radiator warms up. I just cant seem to keep coolant in the overflow tank, it just wants to overflow.. When I crack the bleeder i get air for a long time then a little coolant out, then air, then a little coolant, but coolant continues to want to overflow out of the tank like crazy... Is this normal? Should I just continue the process?

Problem solved. Took a six mile drive with many stops and over heating to get all the air out. Now i just seem to be losing power like a bad alternator, but the battery is still reading 11 volts, but the car will not run on that...

11 volts with engine running means the alternator or something with the charging system is toast.

11 volts with the car off is a dying battery.

Before you crack open the bleeder, I find it helpful to bring up the revs and hold them up until you close the bleeder.

And the car should read 14 or so volts when running IIRC
