    Mishimoto rad + M30 swap

    Hi,

Im in montreal and every highway are in roadwork right now and its traffic everywhere !

I need a better option for cooling the engine ! My stock rad and aux is not enough, the fan is to small.

I want to do the best to lower the temp. So im thinking of putting a 16 inch fan with the e36 mishimoto rad.

I Want to know if someone with the m30 use their rad, since everything is so tigh, i dont know if it will fit.

Does the mishimoto rad is thicker then the stock e30 one ?

    thanks

My buddy ran an oversized e30 radiator from IE with his m30 swap. He had "Funkamasta" mounts and the cap was resting on the radiator.

It fit, but was a tight squeeze. I'm not sure how the Mishimoto compares to the IE unit.

Assuming your radiator is in good shape just toss a 16" Spal pusher on there and call it a day.

Exactly. You need a larger fan, not a larger radiator. The e28 535i rad is plenty big.

Pair the 16"/400mm Spal fan with an 80/88C temp switch from an e36 318 and you'll be golden even in boiling hot stop & go

If m20 guys can run the stock radiator on a 450 hp turbo motor, you'll be fine with your e28 radiator - by far.

Sounds like you need a better fan. Anything above 20 mph or so, the air coming in is faster then what the fan is blowing....I don't need to run my fan at anything above 15 mph or so.

I always thought the e30 radiator was bigger. no?

E28 was slightly bigger - IIRC. Not by much.

radiator compairson - e28 foreground, e30 background. The e28 tank is easier to use cause of the place ment of the bottem hose.
