So far the only parts I have are the engine and tranny, and according to the M30 pdf swap I need a few other things.

I think I also need different mounts to use the transmission, and prolly a new ecu/wiring system for the car.

Im also curious about doing a motronic 1.3 swap, and then running the miller MAF until turbo.

ALL thoughts and comments are welcome!

Glad to see another M30 convert! I have a euro B34 in my car and love it! Obviously you will need the engine mounts; what position do you plan on running in? I had issues with the B34 wiring harness that I had so I just upgraded to Motronic 1.3 since I had the parts already. As yours is a low comp US engine you shouldn't have any problems at all with putting 1.3 on; all I did was change the crank trigger/sensor, get plug wire #6 with the impulse plug, used my M20 harness ( had to lengthen a few bits), and used the 1.3 injectors/rail. It idles beautifully! PM me if you have any questions or anything, I'd be glad to help!

Youve been pretty awesome so far, thanks for the post.

Im not going to be doing the work myself for a variety of reasons, but I appreciate the concern regardless.

I really think a Motronic 1.3 swap is the best idea, so Im going to try and piece that together right now.

What do you think about putting a b35 head on, or is it not needed as Im going to turbo her soon?

In regards to your question about positioning...I have no idea what that means! Care to explain in more detail?

              things I need to get

3.25LSD (found one in nutSac for 200)
              z3 steering rack
tires for my borbet type C
              e28 radiator

              skid plate
              e30 M3 transmission mounts

              MLS headgasket
              ARP turbo studs
1.3 ECU and electronics and stuff (not even sure exactly what I need)

I could be wrong as I haven't done much research on it, but I am pretty sure that a B35 head won't just go on to a B34 block without some modification to the pistons...Have you gotten the Frank M30 guide? It will definitely give you a good primer on this swap, although there isn't much about B34s in it...Check my previous post for what you need for the 1.3 upgrade ( you will also need the 179 DME!!!). It takes like 15 mins to do it...

I have the Frank m30 guide and frequently reference it, thanks!

I will start to track down the injectors/rail, and the crank trigger/sensor, get plug wire #6 with the impulse plug, and the 179 DME

                  DME=ECU right?

those should all come from an e34 right?

also if anyone wants to give me exhaust tips, Im all ears!

                      I need to

                      a) pass CA smog
                      b) have it work with current setup of NA m30b34

                      and HOPEFULLY
                      c) work with a turbo?

A B35 head will bolt on, but the compression ratio drops because the chambers are bigger. It's on mye28 somewhere, I'm not sure if anyone has actually done the correct measurements to know exactly how much of a drop it is.

lower compression= better for turbo iirc

generally, although a stock B34's compression isn't too bad to begin with. Contact Paul at info@bmwpowerparts.com if you want to do more with the engine, he'll let you know what's what.
