HELP. wiring up the m30 harness to the m42 harness

i am currently ready to wire up the m30 into my e30, but don't really know where to start, i have done some research but haven't found info that really helps me. i currently have a wiring harness from a e32 735, and am going to be plugging it into my 91 318,
so my question is
1) is it plug and play
2) or will i have solder wires together,

what is the easiest way of getting around the wiring.

You will need to look at both ETM's.
