    Found a euro m30 at the junk yard... Few questions.

    It's a euro m30b33 from a 72-79 733i with 188,176 miles.

    I've wanted to swap this engine into an e30 for awhile and a have a few questions.

    How much should pay for this engine? I told the guy at the junkyard I'd give him $450 for the engine and ecu, he is going to get back to me this week.

    Are most of the parts interchangeable with the US m30b33 or would they be hard to come by and expensive? If so what parts are different?

    Here is a picture I took with my phone... I love the way the m30 looks with this intake manifold!!

    Nothing as those engines were dreadfull, Look for an late 80-90's M30. E12 M30's were woeful.

        Early design, many things were later vastly improved upon. You're much better off looking for a later model engine.

          Yeah, I guess an engine that was around for 20 there would have great room for improvement.

            The early engines had the least HP and TQ, and were improved upon over close to 30 years of use.

              What is so "euro" about that motor other then its country of origin? There are a ton of those m30's at the shop I work at. Pretty undesirable turds.

                Werd. My car has a euro M20B27 in it. It was built in Germany. It's euro.

                  It is from a 733i that was imported from germany. I am not sure if the engine is any different than the us model, so that was one of my origonal questions.

                    All the instrumentation is in German, the car has european bumpers, and it's a 5 speed (don't think the 733i came with this in the US). Oh and it has those ugly ferderalized side markers.

                            Did you happen to read the first 5 posts? The answer to his question is pretty much spelled out for him, look for a later model M30. But since you seem to have reading problems, I'll rehash for you.

                              Talk to M3Ryan, he built a M30 for his 528 or surf over to www.mye28.com that is the 5er board and this engine was a commonly found lump in them.

                              $450 is to steep of a price for that old of an engine unless it was say a M1 M88 variant.
