easiest swap for a 318i

first things first, i have searched and i have found, this is more of a reassuring thing than blind question. is the absolute easiest swap for a 1985 318i ( m10) the m20? is it literally put it in and everything bolts up or plugs in. i ask because i hate my engine but im also honestly kinda of afraid of doing a swap but don't want to sell the car to buy a different one either so a swap i feel like is the only option.

Ive heard alot of good things about the m30, and that it is very easy to swap.
I plan on doing this swap sometime in the future.
