    m30 oil canister leak...

I have oil seeping from the hole where the top screw goes through holding the cover in place. Used new washer and crush washer provided in filter box.

Anyone run into this? The canister has been powder coated. Thinking about getting a rubber washer and putting it under the metal washers to see if that resolves the issue.

See figure below, look at #4 washer where the bolt goes through on cover.

Make sure the o-ring at the bottom is good too. Check for some kind of burr on the lid or maybe by the bolt head and that the crush washer is new, It shouldn't require an extra gasket or anything beyond what is in the diagram.

Only thing that is being reused is the bolt in terms of hardware. Maybe the filter is messed up and not sealing against the lid. There is a rubber seal ring on the top of the filter. I will measure the old one and make sure this one is not too tall etc.

Hair line crack in the lid?

Also, do not over tighten this bolt, a simple nip up is all that is required, over tightening can distort the 'o' ring.

Mine hasn't shown any signs of leaking, but I'm running the e24 housing, so its a little different I believe.
