I was poking fun at Kronus. Nothing of the sort ever actually happened.

      so don't do that.
I'd expect a broken rocker would be more common if you set the rockers too tight and sat on the rev limiter under load for too long

I think if the rockers are too far away from the cam, it ends up slapping them harder at high RPMs.

the too tight-breakage is a result of valve float typically - the valves kiss the pistons a bit...

          kronus has it right.

When you set the clearance loose the rocker doesn't load until later on the cam lobe and the valve acceleration is much more rapid and stressful. Using all that curve from closed to starting to open is critical to bmw rocker arm longevity, particularly on more radical camshafts.

Staying off the rev limiter for entire straightaways probably wouldn't hurt either.

when you're boxed in between a turbo miata, a volvo, and a concrete wall with about 2" clearance on all sides, it's hard to keep that in mind :(

              Try calling these guys up

They make the radiators for "BeCool." they also made my custom radiator for my m30 swap so they should have the dimensions on hand.

I dont understand why so many m30 cars claim to have cooling problems!? Never had any issues with my big sixes... on the track or on the street. I just tore about 30% of the tread off my tires at Deals Gap in about twenty minutes. My B35 lives on the redline! I drove 100-120mph for nearly 4 hours and only toasted a G260/5 trans. It was nearly 100 degrees today and I sat in gridlock with nothing but a 16'' Spal fan and a 30amp fuse as insurance! Temp guage never gets past the halfway point.

                Good luck

                  Makes sense.

                  Thankyou for the education.

Ditto on the factory b34 radiator.. We race a b34 with only the fan from the ac condenser - no mechanical fan. We do Lemons/Chumps - last year at VIR (summer time) ran hard for 24hrs - zero cooling issues. We turn the electrical fan on under yellow flags - otherwise we are good. We did add a oil temp gauge just to help watch temps.

Motor has had head work and has a b35 cam and factory rockers - zero issues. I adjust the valves before every race to the factory spec's.

Fun and reliable.. Getting ready for 24hrs at VIR in 30days :)
