Ok, I'm about to pull the trigger on an M30 swap. I'll be getting everything needed from a 91 e34 5-speed. I'm thinking I'm going to use mounts from e30.de. The car that the motor and tranny will be going into is an 84 325e. Here's my questions. The mounts have 3 possible mounting locations. The furthest back is best for weight distribution and I intend to use that one. Will e30 tranny mounts work for any motor mount positions? Also, I've read conflicting info about shifter linkage. Do I need to modify my linkage?

Ayman's selling off a set of Good'nTight's mounts for $215 fyi. I think you can drill them to get to pos 3 and save yourself some cash.
The trans mount bracket can be slid back or forward in the slotted channels on the unibody, no worries there. Depending on the trans you use, you may need the e30 M3 bracket though.
I haven't come to the point where I have to figure out the linkage yet, so I can't really offer any advice there. Maybe one of the guys who've already tackled that part will chime in.

Pushing the engine back to Pos 3 won't affectt he trans mount, as above , they slide on the body.
Depending on what gearbox you use, if it's the normal M30 one, you'll need an E30 325 i one, as that puts the gearlever in the right place.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Idk about the aluminum carrier, but i am pretty positive you will have to shorten it. The m30 is a long motor, and you are putting it in the rear most position. I have otis mounts and in the forward position, the shifter on my g265 was in the perfect spot, but i had to shorten it after moving my engine back.

No need to shorten the shifter, just use the one in the picture above and push the rear section further back through the rear bushing.
Also, my driveshaft didn't need to be shortened. I just swapped output shaft flanges and drilled the front of the shaft out to make room for the outout shaft.
This is in position 2 with an e34 260/6, Otis' mount brackets, and Condor mounts.
