Oil pump sprocket vibrated loose, what do?

So, basically, my flywheel vibrated loose, and also the harmonic balancer. I don't know what the origin of the vibration was (other than revving a 500rwhp m30 to 7100rpm), but remarkably, no damage was sustained - it just stopped shifting, and then when we parked it we found the crank nut lying under the car.

Anyway, Right after it started up for the first time in ~ 6 months (fouled spark plugs) we heard a turrible rattlin' near the front of the engine, and stopped the motor. When we checked everything, changed the oil, and tried it again, the oil light came on. Checked the filter, and it was dry - the oil pump isn't working.

So, pulling the pan and at least welding the nut for the sprocket on. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm thinking about a new oil pump, but it's not cheap.

you can rebuild the oil pump with new internals. 24v guys have the oil pump nut issue. They either loctite or security wire it on.

Disassemble your oil pump and inspect it. If it is damaged/out of spec replace it, otherwise i would run it again.

What harmonic balancer are you using?

Stock. Where would I buy a new rotor? I'm under the impression that new parts are hard to find.

Don't think this is my problem (sure of it really) but for completeness....http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Trouble/OilCanister.htm

Anyone have thoughts on this from VAC? I was planning on just welding the nut on.

Red loctite has been working for me so far.
