    M30 Swap confirmation questions.

I've been researching this for a long time now and i need to confirm a few things, so bare with me. Keep in mind that I'm doing motor position 3 and I'm trying to use GoddandTight's mounts, with a M30 B35 with a g265 5-speed.

And correct me if I'm wrong.

    1. The 265 driveshaft with the early model E30 Big flange will bolt right up.

    2. Will the E30 Starter work fine?

Ds will need to be shortened, use e28 265 one. I think m30 starter is bigger but e30 one should fit

As far as part #s are concerned, M30 vs M20 starters is a negative.

        ...but may interchange physically.

E30 starter will not work, although they bolt up fine the pinions are different.

Thanks a lot for all the information. Can't wait to finally start this build. Just found a free location to do it today.

Depending on your engine location any ETA shaft should work. Only issue is how much spline contact you have. Take some measurements and ask around. Should be easy to find a proper match without going through modification.

One more question, Do the throttle cables and cruise control hook up fine?

I removed my cruise control so idk about that.

I had to make a new bracket for my throttle cable but the length was fine.

I've got a few more questions, this should be it until i get started, lol.

                    1. Do the power steering lines hook up fine to the E30 rack from the M30 p.s. pump?

                    2. Does the 260 slave cylinder work on 265?

                    3. Can i use the M20 A/C pump. If not, do the E30 A/C lines work on the M30 pump.

                      1. You have to bend one of the fittings to get it to reach (depending on engine position) but should be fine.

                      2. Yes.

                      3. Not sure about the pump but you will have to extend one of the hoses (again depending on engine position)

Get the motor in the bay and running first, then worry about power steering and A/C later ;)

                        1. yes, don't get a pump from an iL, they have 3 connections and won't bolt up right.

                        2. yes, all slaves are the same.

                        3. yes you can and they should fit, if not custom lines aren't that expensive.

So what have you guys done for the exhaust? The M20 down-pipe flanges down match up with the M30 manifold flanges. (3 mounting holes vs. 2)
Does anyone make headers for this swap?

I'm running e34 manifolds and cat. Custom down pipes, y pipe, and cat back tubing ran me $325 at a top notch exhaust shop. Went with 3" single pipe, Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator and Street Power Turbo muffler.

As far as I know, any off the shelf m30 headers will require some creativity to fit.

                              I miss the old BMW
