Starting m30 swap and got questions

I was searching and trolling around the forum and also got franks writeup and noticed one thing that brought my attention
It states that if I wanted to use a 535i e34 Getragtrans iI wouldhave to modify my shifter assembly. What shifter assembly would be best route to go trans wise with the least modification. I i have a g240 trans now out of a early 318i but know there weak. Wouldthe m3 from an e30 be any better without mods to the shifter assembly?

ok from re reading the writeup i see it says to shorten the plate that the shifter assembly sits on. apparently its steel is this right? Just want to start my swap into my vert

I used the aluminum shifter from a vert with my e34 trans (260/6 I think.) No modification required, just had to slide it back through the rear bushing to get the front to line up with the trans. I also used the Garagistic delrin bushings and a 10 mm bolt and lock nut instead the bitch clip.

e34 535i transmission or later e28 535i transmission will work with the e30 shifter linkage. As long as it has the top provision for that shift carrier.
