Ended up sending the M90 cam to TopEnd and had it reground to some turbo spec which I am awaiting the cam card for it. Or I'll have John from WOT-Tech mic it for specs, the dude is a genius with that stuff..!!

John has a CNC machine also, so no doubt he can make C4 trans adapters, would love a 24V M20 head, c'mon John DO IT..!!!

Managed to start assembling the head tonight, valve seals & 1/2 of the springs, it's been a few years since I've assembled a head, those springs were not easy to install.

Ok, wanted to point out some cooling mods to the B35 head, I added additional holes to match the M90 block.

M90 block with dual factory coolant passages between the cylinders, this provides even cooling around the cylinder.

Also adding a B34 water neck at the rear of the head to improve cooling through the entire cylinder head.

Nice work, spending some time on the cooling is a real good idea. I am having the water passages of my block extrude honed. Taking the casting burrs off apparently makes a huge difference. Cylinder 2 is the weak spot for over heating so I have greater tolerances in that piston size to the others.
Are you running dual valve springs?

Great idea on the cooling improvements, it never would have occurred to me that the m90 had additional passages.

How does the b34 neck work? I assume you have to add some extra hoses to handle it?

Running b34 setup on my high compression b34. You need a coolant-t from e28. . Crappy picture but you get the idea

The hose running toward the firewall goes to the heater core inlet and then you run a line from the gooseneck to the other heater core inlet. I also deleted the heater valve to insure that coolant is always flowing through the head.

A few years back when I blew the headgasket and warped the head on the B34, I had the M90 head laying around and figured what the heck lets try it on the B34.

So I decided to drill coolant holes into the deck of the B34 block to match the M90 head.
Taped off the bores, used the blown gasket as template and proceeded to drill the holes.

Switched to a Cometic and it's been together now for 7 years with no cooling issues or gasket failure.

Now that is a true evolutionary improvement. Great work.

Dedicated a whole day today with good results.

                      Finished assembling the head.

Checked piston to valve clearance with some modeling clay. Using a .70 five layer
Cometic gasket I pulled 2 layers out reducing it to .40 thick.

Intake measured .75 and exhaust .100.

Cleaned all mating surfaces, Copper spray all 3 layers.

Head installed with ARP studs. Started first stage of torquing the head with multiple passes at 20ftlbs. Then a few passes at 50ftlbs. I'll check tomorrow 50lbs again and continue at 80ftlbs.

                          M30 Turbo engine build

                          Yes! Yes! Yes!

Question. Why no rocker locks? Makes head assembly so much easier and looks better too. Plus I've heard at high rpm the rockers can shift with the springs.

Haven't had any problems with the current set up at 7200rpm. Installed new springs, lets see what happens.
