325e to 325i engine swap troubles

I have an '87 325e and recently replaced the engine with an '88 325i. The wiring harness it has now is the one that came with 325i engine. After getting the wiring harness hooked up, the starter motor doesn't seem to want to turn. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

What was the condition of the motor to begin with? Might need to give it a good whack while cranking to free it up.
