Car starts up fine but then the revs start to bounce at idel from about 1800-2200 RPM. Its a steady bouncing up and down. Cars a 87 325is. Need help quick. Thanks guys.

You need a new idle control valve. Either that, or take it out and spray some lubricant in there. See if that helps.

Yea.... I think the valve is bad. When I disconnect the harness from it the car dies. I was under the impression that if it was good it would jump to 2000 RPM. Thanks for the help Will... does anyone else have any clue? Thanks

I think when you disconnect the ICV, the car WILL die. I think... lol But if it does die, that doesnt mean that it is good. If the idle is bouncing up and down, the ICV either needs cleaned or replaced. One check... take it off of the car and twist it real fast and see how much rattling noise it makes. It should rattle a lot. There is a little ball type thing in there that should moved around alot when twisted. If it doesnt rattle much, it needs lubed or replaced.
