    off idle stumble

I have a M30 afm and 19lbs. injectors on a otherwise stock M20 with a 524 dme. When I installed my 173 dme with a Dinan chip it will stumble right off idle, almost like a hickup. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to fix this? For now I put the 524 dme back in it and runs fine, has great crisp throttle response.

Is the car easy to stall?

Try, increasing your ilde to 1000rpm. Or, grap your afm spring and loosen it, so the flap dosnt keep opening and shuting again.

What happens when the afm is fully shut is the engine reconises that as "no air going into the engine". So it shuts down, by cutting the fuel to the engine. But the engine turns around, and the vacuum opens the flap while its spining down. The flap opens and more fuel is giving. But it just repeats the cycle over and over.

Before you so this. start the car and use a flat head screw driver to open the afm flap up. JUST alittle bit is need at first. If the engine starts operating back to normal then loosen the spring. Or better still, move the little arm thing in the afm up more(from the resting position.only move alittle bit at a time.you might miss the sweet spot), by adjusting the screw in the centre.

Yeah, it acts like it wants to die when you slightly tap the gas (like trying to get out of a driveway without scraping. I lifted the spring and moved the wheel 2 clicks counter clockwise and now seems to surge at idle.

did you try one click on the afm?

Screw the idle screw in abit more to increase the rpm.

Moved the afm all around from one click to four. Last night I put it back to the stock setting and put the 524 DME back in it. Runs fine except the check engine light coming on at idle. I'll check it tonight and see what fault it is. Talked with MarkD yesterday briefly via email and am going to get a chip from him.

One ECU works perfectly and one causes you to stumble....

Therefore I'd suspect that you have a bad ECU or bad chip (more unlikely).
