UPDATE: Finally got the new engine bolted in. Had some issues starting it, but narrowed that down to an incorrect distributor cap. Fired up first try with another one. Here's a link for anyone who wants to hear it.

Buy another engine. You probably can find a used one for less than 800. Save the busted one and rebuild it at your leisure.
