    CAI on M30 Swapped E30

ideally looking for what Mcskeebady1(sp) has...trying to source which intake he used for this (yes I PM'd)

I can't seem to fit my airbox properly within the engine bay, I don't mind using a proper CAI if it's close to getting at least cold air

That looks homemade to me. Are you using a MAF as well?

Just go to your local automotive shop and buy some cheep turbo piping and silicone couplings like I did...

I had a cone filter under the ghetto cover, worked just fine.

That'd be ideal. There really is no automotive shop locally that carries pieces like this unfortunately. I can check and see if I can piece it together however.
Alternatively KAMOTORS has a really nice setup but it's $...

You could always buy online, think my setup was 1x 3" 90 degree elbow, 1x 3" 45 degree elbow and one 12" length of 3" aluminum pipe + some hose clamps = done!

edit, plus a filter - should only cost you like $20!!

Look around online. There are places you can buy assorted lengths of pipe and couplers. A little measuring and some time with the hacksaw and you're good to go.

I used ebay bits to put mine together. Came to about $30 in pipes/elbows/clamps + the K&N I already had laying around.

Now this is an m20, but the same theory could apply. Underground valve box, $5 from the hardware store. Cut it, brace it, add some old door weather strip. Cut a corresponding hole in hood, add brake light housing from a vert. Done. Like a boss (or maybe an employee)…

Andy.B doesn't like it. He'd rather use new parts ;)

Thx guys, I bit the bullet and ended up getting a pretty KAMOTORS v5 intake.

Go big or go home right?

Castros will make one of their airboxes to fit the passenger side of the car on request.

Would make a nice setup! Buy the couplers and piping from CX Racing and filter from Summit.

Installed the kamotors V5 intake today.

Descent product, sure it looks great but I feel is overpriced...

Oh jeeze. That picture shows how slim and subtle it looks. I'm sorry I ever said anything! Carry on you mad bastard!

                              I installed it incorrectly yesterday.

Today I found out the kamotors V5 intake system doesn't work with an m30 swap.
The filter is too long and won't clear the strut tower housing, so I had to get creative and use some random pieces in had lying around in my shop.
This is just temporary until I order some proper tubing...

Moral of the story: shoulda just made a custom one on the cheap from the get go.
