this is an m30 in an e30 he yanked, believe me there is no room to drop the tranny under the car.

Dropping the tranny is NOT an option.

bwanac, This is the first time i've really done this by myself completely. I know ur kidding, but let me tell u. Doing this in 95 degree weather is not fun. lolol. It was the exhaust removal that was the bitchiest. But other than that, it went relatively smooth.

ANY TIPS TO REPLACE THE REAR CRANK SEAL AND GASKET BEFORE I UNDERTAKE THIS? I have another post about the rear seal, so if you like you can post there instead... Thanx alot guys

I know what you mean I was putting my M50 back in in 115-118 degree weather. My body does not know dehydration anymore it's so used to the heat it seems.

My biggest problem was getting the exhaust to line back up, tranny kept sitting on it.

How big is the seal? I like to use the same size sockets or a piece of wood and tap them in with a hammer.

This is the rear end. There is an aluminum plate that bolts on and the seal goes inside the middle of it. It kinda circumscribes the outside of the crank to make the seal.I haven't taken a look at it yet, but I figure it could be leaking at either that seal... or at the gasket portion on the aluminum bolt-on piece...
