M30 with Getrag 265 from M3?

Just wanted to verify this before I bought the tranny. This WILL work, right? The tranny is out of an E30 M3 and the M30 is from a 1990 535i.

What driveshaft would I use with this combo? Does anyone have blueprints for possible engine mounts I could use?

and as far as i know you need the getrag 260 from the 5 or 7 series and then you can use half the 5 series and half the 3 series driveshaft to get the correct length

Yeah, Jared alludes to being able to use the M3 tranny and a guy, 335i something or other, has mentioned using it. I just wondered what the benefits or problems would be if I used one.

Im not sure of the benefits of the m3 tranny but I do know it will probably be more expensive to get one as opposed to the getrag 260 unless you have a line on a good priced m3 tranny

The benefit of the 265 is that it's quite a bit stronger than the 260... Though I understand that the 260 should just slip in with no modifications to the shift linkage.

would a getrag 260 from an m20b25 work on an e28?? my uncle needs a new tranny in his 535i and i was wondering if he can use my spare tranny? TIA!!

getrag 260 will only work on the m20. it won't fit a m30

If it came off of a small 6, it won't work. There are Getrag 260s that work with the big 6 (535i), but those are ones that came on the big 6.

like already mentioned, if your uncle had a 528 then it would work, but since he has a 535 it will not.
