    IACV testing

OK, here's what I know so far. (Car is an '87 325is)

My IACV buzzes, but my car idles between 1600 and 2100.

I measured the resistance and instead of 40 ohms between the outer two pins and 20 ohms between an outer and the inner, I got 58 ohms between the outer two pins and 33 going to the inner.

Is this enough to throw my idle off or is the problem somewhere else.

    Thanks,
    -Eric

Oh and what's up with I like Bronzit on my 325is...

    Bronzit kicks ass.

You are getting a lot of resistance, I do not know what the allowable is but you might think about replacing the IACV.

Oh and by the way BUMP!!!

I think the Bronzit emoticon is because bronzit cars are widely known to be suicidal.

      :p

        Bronzit is suicidal? That's bad.

Well tonight I went out, stuck the IACV on and tried to start it. It took a good while and some pedal down action to get her to start but she started. This is the first time it didn't fire immediately. I can hear a vague sucking as if there is a vacuum leak coming from hose that goes from the IACV to the intake manifold, but it seems as if the hose is porous. I can't pinpoint it. One of these days I'll probably just remove the whole dang snakes-den and check every hose individually.

Oh, and I did buy a used "tested good" IACV off E-bay today. We'll see if it really tests good or not...
