pull the engine or drop the subframe?

Hi. so m30s sit super close to the firewall i need to take the engine out to replace a clutch.
i've never dropped the subframe would this be easier than pulling it?
pulling it is a huge pain that's why i'm wondering about dropping the subframe.

i'm thinking maybe if the subframe is dropped like 1' it'll be cool so i can pull the trans.
if i lift it i'll have to engine angled at like 2 O'clock but it'll be a bitch to slam the trans back on.

    thanks.

Everything is so frickin tight i'm starting to want a honda engine in here instead.

I say drop that behemoth like you said and this will also allow for an inspection of the all important subframe bolts.
