run it dry sump and have it sitting super low in the bay, and you may be able to clear the booster.

I agree about the dry sump, but how do you know the booster will clear? If it does clear, then go to the 2002 booster for additional clearance.

Or mount it up front like the e34 540

I am currently doing a V8 conversion on a Volvo 240... you will need to give yourself a month of time...

Go for it. have custom DS made, the shifter of a Borg Warner should come up through the existing hole... with some messaging I am sure. You have to use the s10 bell housing.

If you get teh Borg Warner 5 speed, the 3.73 LSD would be perfect... Spend a little on some custom headers so you don't have to worry about clearing the steering column.

I am super interested in this. Keep us/ me in the loop

Don't know if he's on here or not, but the guy I got my M3 from did a LS1 into a silver M3 - search around - he might be here. Bob Heathcok or something close to that. He had it at the E30 picnic this year.

Any reason a 24v swap won't work for you - much more documentation around on that.

          Good Luck!

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Have you thought about a small block ford? Not a big fan of ford products myself, but the dist. is up front so it's not aginst the firewall like a sbc and i think that thay have front sump pans on them. or if you go with a gen2 lt or gen3 ls you wouldn't have to worry about how far the motor sits back.

Go to s14.net & do a search on V8 - you'll find the one above & one done in England. Bob's is a very nice conversion.

I've met bob in person, He is a great guy to talk to and his car is by far the meanest sounding m3 on this planet. the sheer power that car produces and the way its puts it to the ground in astounding.
