    M30 Piston source

Anyone have any ideas for places to get m30 pistons? I'm not looking for any crazy compression ones, but ones similar to stock. Thanks,
    Brendan

Bavauto.com, or search around mye28.com for the guy who used VW bug pistons. They come forged, the pins fit, and you can get them in 92mm or larger for like $250 a set (4) which is a damn good deal when you consider that a set of high compression M30 pistons from BMW is around $900.

Found the guy on mye28.com and the pistons were too small so they rattled back and forth inside the cylinder.

I'd sell you the ones coming out of my engine for cheap if you're interested. They look fine - throw on a new set of rings and go for it! For slightly more compression you can probably deck the head.

nah, if I'm buildin a motor I'm not gonna throw used parts in, no sense in gettin rid of mine in a situation like that.

The problem with his pistons were that they were advertized forged, but they were cast, so the tolerances were wrong. If you get the real forged pistons, they will work.

True, I'm gonna talk to the guy who does my engines, see what he thinks and possibly see if we can scrounge up a VW piston and check it out. It sux wen you run into issues like that, I love my forged pistons in my other ride...
