    rev limiter on 85 eta

I thought that the rev limiter was at 4800 for eta's, please correct me if i'm wrong. but i can take mine past 5000 and it will hit the limiter around 5200. I looked in the computer to see if there was a chip in it and it looked all stock but had yellow paint markings from a junk yard that said 1986 325e, mine is a 1985 325e. Unless the tach is off, i don't know what to make of this.

tach might be a little off. Im pretty sure that mine always used to hit at least 5. When I got rid of the valve float issue, I bounced it off the revlimited a few times and it was at or just past 5k on the tach

Mine will do that too, but I have a Dinan chip...so that is to be expected. I very rarely ever take it above 4.5k.

Single valve springs make it unsafe, but thats all. Swap those out for dual springs from an "i" motor, and you can bounce it off the limiter all day long! :pimp:

The single springs will float around 5500 or so. That must be the limit since the markd chip runs up to 5500. I've had some minor ill effects from high rpm running. constant 3k on the interstate and the occasional 6k+ rev. Of course a motor that already has a toooooooon of miles should have a bad response to all of a sudden reving that high.

Black one has fittipaldi wheels. 15x7. I've got around 400k miles or so.
