Oil temp

Im starting to add some gauges to the BMW and ill be running a volt, oil temp and oil pres in the center console.

What is the oil temp suppose to be when the motor is warm in an m20? the reason i ask is auto meter offers 3 diff gauges all showing different temp ranges

Dave, typical oil temp will be at or slightly higher than the water temp. I've run hard on the track in hot weather and topped out the oil temp around 260 F.

Also look at the VDO sets available through Bavarian Autosport (bavarianautosport.com) and BMP Design (bmpdesign.com). Both sites have "kits" for oil pressure, oil temp, and water temp, with all the senders and adapters for BMW's (especially the oil temp adapter that allows you to keep the stock idiot light sendor as well).
