does a 535i e28 with a m30 engine use a vr sensor or a hall?

I think its a hell effect sensor... I THINK.

It's a pickup on the bellhousing that gets its signal when a metal plug on the flywheel passes it.

yeah, a reference sensor. on the tranny bellhousing. There's a crank sensor (D) AND a reference sensor (S)
