    red hot manifolds?????

    my buddy has a 1985 e we just got it running,, put a new wireing harness on it,, it idels good but it has no power when driving it and the Exhaust manifolds are red hot,,, can a cloged cat cause the manifolds to glow red....??????

    The cat could be clogged. Does it have 1 or 2 cats? Or it could be running really lean. The cats are really easy to gut.

      Ya, sounds like the cats are plugged. The no power thing pretty much tells you their is a restriction. The easiest and quickest way to tell this is to feel the air coming out of the tail pipe, idle and with some throttle. If the air flow does not change really, then that is a clog. You could also take the exhauset off from the headers back to see if there is a difference.

              the manifolds are still hot and car has no power manifolds to glow red....??????
