Is there a difference between the s38 block and an M30 block?

If you read The 6 Series Enthusiast Companion, there are basically no differences between the early M90 (M30 93.355mm bore) block and the M88/3 blocks from which the S38 evolved. The blocks are different, I have them sitting next to each other outside. From what I remember, bore is slightly larger on the S38 (by 1mm IIRC), and there are differences in block casting and oil/coolant passages.-MikeComment
