What exhaust swaps avail for the m30 without modification

I have a m30 motor from an e23 735i...the exhaust headers on it are nasty looking...I want bavauto headers but not for $600.00...I was wondering if the exhaust headers from a gen III *e34/e32* m30, or possibly the e28/e24 M5/M6 would fit onto my motor. I really like the look of the headers from the s38 m5 here is a pic but if realoem is saying they are 2 grand a piece!!! I might have to soldier on with the stock ones

Realoem is like double the dealer price. Don't use that as a reference.

I believe that E32/E34 headers would work on your motor, but if i were you, I'd get headers from an E28. They are much easier to find and will guarantee a perfect fit.

You should be concerned with whether or not the headers fit within the engine compartment as well. You may have to do modifications to the firewall and passenger footboard so those downpipes will clear.

E28 manifolds and downpipes are a perfect fit, and damn cheap, I got my manifolds for free and my downpipes for $20 shipped. I bet you could make the E28 cat and resonator work too, with just custom piping from the to a muffler in the stock E30 location.

i will look into some e28 headers...M5 headers maybe mmmm??? I am planning on having most of the piping custom fabricated. I plan on using engine pos III...so i will have to give a few wacks to the firewall anyway....a few more won't hurt :D

Where did you find downpipes? mine didn't come with my motor, I couldn't find them at any junkyard, and any shop or aftermarket store I called said they won't give me used downpipes due to warrantee and safety issues

I still have the stock exhaust headers from my m30 out of the 735i...Im going to check a few salvage yards and I know a few ppl that are more than happy to fab me up something if I need it
