Is anybody working on M60 swap

I searched and found a couple links here and there, but is anybody currently working on a 3.0L M60 swap ? (M60B30)

I was looking at the prices on theeurodepot and it's about $600 more than an m50 from an e34.

Just want to know more about this swap, what tranny will have to be used, what drive shaft, what mounts, how it fits etc ?

Does the M60B30 and M60B40 use the same tranny ? I read that you have to modify the tranny tunnel for the M60B40 but I am not sure if the same goes for the 3.0L model too...

I have always thought that was a good looking motor. I does seem silly to only do the b30 and not the 4.0

Jean both engines are phisically the same size .
Only the engine's liter displacement is larger on the 4.0 .

It would be a waste of time and effort to go with the 3.0 swap though .
The first thing owners of the 3.0 V8 do when getting serious is to toss it in favor of the larger V8's .

As far as a little write up goes , AKG-Motorsport has had THIS up for years .

The m60 swap requires like 5*work compared to m50 swap, includind remote mount brakebooster/MC and custom headers.

Using e34 automatic would mean a lot of wiring and 6 speed 540i manuals are hardto find.

You can use any big 6 tranny on the v8 and the other way around. I've contemplated doing this many a time... but right now traveling is more important.

If the m60 wiring harness is anything like the m50 wiring harness, you can use the automatic harness for a manual transmission.

look up e30 v8 on google and you'll find the e30.de page dedicated to one such swap. Let google translate it- it gives you a lot better idea of what exactly is involved. It has a wiring chart too!

Are you serious? Any M30 compatable transmission fits the M60? That's fucked up man, maybe I will do an M60 swap into my 635CSi!

I've been told they don't, but I have no first hand info.

I know the 5 speeds and six speeds will bolt up to either engine, 3.0 or 4.0.

Often times people swap the 4.0 into their 3.0 e34s but leave the 5 speed manual for cost/ease purposes.

I think a 3.0/4.0 six speed e30 would be sick. You'd need some good suspension work to balance the car again, but it could be really fun.

Maybe a high revving 3 litre could be fun. Get a little more top end out of it with new cams and tunning, better intake/exhaust. Attach a 6 speed and BAM! Tons of funs
My e30 and e28 are both up for sale::

**transmissions are NOT compatible between the 6s and the 8s.

the 3.0L blocks are pointless to use, so go with at least a 4.0. :)

We are going to make a swap kit for the E36's but, I hadnt planned on an M60 E30.
