parts list just about complete have a couple Qs...

so i put 585 miles on my car in one day to get a transmission for my motor swap. I pulled a motor/tranny from a 87 635csi yesterday and i noticed on left side of the transmission there were two sensors plugged into the bellow housing and the sensors were linked to the wiring harness *which i picked up aswell minus 1 cut green wire*. What sensors are those? they aren't on the getrag 260. Also the car had alot of M badges on it I wasn't sure if the prev owner was a poser or if Bmw made a M635csi... If so do you think the trans has sport ratios or standard ones?? I don't know the number on it yet b/c its covered in powersteering fluid, oil and a bunch of other shit.

oh I also picked up the ecu..so from that 635csi I have the ecu, engine wiring harness, and transmission...do you think that will bolt right up to a M30 from an e23 86 735iL. Now onto the expensive shit *400.00 clutch!!!!!* thats more than i paid for the motor and trans together :( , e28 radiator..another 300.00 and then misc crap another 200-300.00 then the madness will really became...Assemble!!

    cliffs:
    1. Will ecu, engine wiring harness, and trans from 87 635csi *maybe M635csi* bolt to M30 from 86 735iL auto

edit the trans is 5 spd manual getrag 265.... *I hope* or getrag 280 *I wish*

      I work alot
      Here are some answers.
all that you have mentioned is an m30, The 265,260 or 280 will bolt up to the block.
the price will change depending on your skills good luck!!!!

those little holes on the side of the tranny are crank positioning sensors. if those arent there good luck starting the car.

and its not an "M" the PO was a poser.

BMW did indeed make an M635CSi... The "M6" designation was used in the US only, everywhere else it was called the M635CSi. 3453cc S38, Getrag 280, etc. There are definitely a handful of geniune M635CSi's in the states, there's one for sale in CO for like $20k.

I was thinkin thats what they were but wasn't 100% sure...I have the complete engine wiring harness *minus 1 wire* so I have the crank sensors...but i found out the ecu for it is fried so Im back to not having an ecu for my m30..

I figured the car was a poser, b/c no one would let a real M6 or M635csi go for ass cheap as this one did, but it was a slight possibility so i wanted to double check.....so does anyone have a spare ecu from a 635 or a manual e28 535i????

Ebay, you most likely need an 059 ECU. They typically go for $75 to $125.

                  059s can take a chip.

Check at www.mye28.com, I don't hear them ranting about the Jim C chips as much as the D'Sylva chips. They LOVE the latter...
