Depends on the exhaust setup you desire....
But overall, I had to change the injectors which wasn't that bad, the tubing an installing the turbo wasn't too bad. I had to get a new passenger side motor mount bracket fabricated (TCD did that for me free of charge). Mount the AFM with a custom bracket I had made. Drill into the intake manifold for Vacuum lines to the wastegate. Drill for oil line supply and return... what else was there....
Oh yeah, install the chip, the gauge (my preference, you don't NEED a gauge), and tuning it. TCD let me borrow their wideband O2 kit.Leave a comment:

I don't know why... BECAUSE.
No, srsly, I need to get my swap done, then I want to see about the TCD S2 kit...
My original goal was 1hp for every 10 pounds, but 300hp just sounds a bit, I don't know.. not enough. I guess we'll see.
(then again, I did drive the new 335i.. and that was MORE than enough.)Leave a comment:

ya your definitely playing with some sort of fire haha
good luck on your pursuit of 400..just be carefull!
mmm tcd's turbo kit...maybe i should start with mastering a stock m30 first let alone finish the swap haha:pLeave a comment:

I don't know why I'm asking, but why would you want 400hp in an E30? I already know that you would never need 400hp in an E30, but why do you want that much? It's just gonna be a grenade...Leave a comment:

Haha, I also like the sound of a low boost turbo M30 making in the arena of 300rwhp... As nice as a well built NA motor is to drive, M30s take to turbo charging very well. TCDs kit is so well sorted that the guys at MyE28.com claim that the car drives just like it's stock, but with double the power and torque any time you want it. That makes me a little hardLeave a comment:

An M30 will definitly need ITB´s or at least a new intake with proper intake tuned lenght runners.
Then a seriosuly wild cam, high lift,
11:1 compression will do it,
purpose build exhaust headers and a proper tuned exhaust.
Port job on the head for sure as well.
The idea is to make 300hp as low as possible. wich is about 6500-7000rpm
no way less then that.Leave a comment:

You will get a lot more info if you also post at mye28.com. Good guy there i tell you!!
The m30b35 (much like the m20b25) is very well laid out from the factory. You can make small tweaks, but nothing HUGE...there really is no weak link you can fix and all of the sudden be making 50 more HP...
If I ever even *think* of pulling my block on my e30m30 - I wouldn't do it with out getting my hands on a euro "L-block" (called so cause it has the letter "L" on the block...)
Basically a big bore short stroke 3.5L m30. Now pay attention to *short stroke* part, that is what will REALLY make a m30 come alive. I've driven a e28 that has a hand built "l-block" and it was a completly different motor then a m30 in many ways. Still a good amount of TQ - but it SOUNDED awesome - reved so free and wild - and cherished the high revs. It just spins like a top. I drove that car for a month (M3 ryan's old e28 - now long gone...motor took a hit at the track from a money shift - 10k RPM's will do that to a m30!!!)
Give it 7.5psi non intercooled with factory internals and you'd hit 300rwhp.
And folks that 7.5 PSI NON-INTERCOOLED...wow - It almost sounds too good to be true...Leave a comment:

How much work was it and how difficult to bolt it on?
I have the stage I TCD kit in my car, as most of you know. I am nothing shy of completely satisfied with this kit. and is completely bolt on for $3800. Give it 7.5psi non intercooled with factory internals and you'd hit 300rwhp.
why not that? I know the title of the thread is "N/A M30", but why is it not an option for you?Leave a comment:
