Quick Question for you M30 guys...

Guys, I'm almost done with my writeup and want to be as detailed as I possibly can. Can you m30 guys give me some common problems you've been having on your installs? Something for me to put in my "Troubleshooting/FAQ" section. Hey, I may be able to help you as I write it.

    Thanks alot.

I'd say the biggest problem is the electronics, the 3-pole connector near motronic-box and the big engine-car connector.

Other modifications needed (oilpan & -pump from E34, motor mounts from www.300mm.de and driveshaft getting shortened & exhaust made) are no big deal..

One "common" mistake is to connect fuel-lines wrong way around.. done that :D
There is also some confusion about water hoses and where to put expansion-tank (tank from facelift-model fits neatly near ABS). Windshield-washer tank from 325ix is straight fit to batterys place.

    Just my 2 cents..

      Done the fuel lines too.

I'd give you some more but I'm making one too... JK

Electronics is probably the most confusing i think.

        - Don't be a vigina, beat your firewall in.
        - later (motorntic 1.1 or 1.3) M20 harness is the easiest way (IMHO)
        - you can use the m20 radiator, but the e28 one is easier.
        - different trannys are different lengths (as much as ~4"?)
        - Budget? I'd ball park it at $3.5k
        - If I did mine over again I would use the 533/M5 flywheel
        - The getrag 265 is a great tranny with it's removable bellhousing. Some say it's also a stronger box.
        - Don't forget your engine grounding strap
        - Use only BMW factory coolant(do some people not know this?)
        - Keep a pen and paper handy, as your end up inventing a lot of new cuss words.

          Yea I invented a few.

I thought the M30 harness would be easier because all the plugs are in the right locations. I think the fuel injector cover looks nicer too, thats that my opinion.
