    M42 to M30 swap list?

is there any parts list for this swap, from what ive found searching i no that someone makes motor mounts, the m20 wiring harness is easiest and im not to sure what to do about the driveshaft situation. for my swap i would be using the engine and 5 speed form a 635csi. is my 4:10 rear end going to be a problem?

a small case 4.10 isnt gonna cut it. The gearing is way to short and it won't take the m30's abuse.

Not so much, we all just start tearing shit up and buy parts as we need them

That's how I did it... lol

Turned out fine, just took a little while. I definitely would NOT try to do the M30 swap if you are swapping your only mode of transportation. Engine transplants are hardly predictable.

3.27 diff will work well for the m30 , keep the m42 and build it!!!

No no no, seriously, why would you want to take a apart a 635CSi to do an M30 swap into an E30?

I'm all for the M30 swap, M30 powered E30s are bad ass, but you are committing a crime against all BMW humanity by dismantling a good running 6er to use parts on a goddamn 3 series. (Sorry, E30s are NOT nearly as beautiful, nice, cool, unique, etc as the E24)

Unless the 6er is wrecked, I'd suggest finding another motor and stuff and LOVING the 6er. Not only are 6 series way cooler than any E30 (aside from the M3), but their value is rising steadily. A few years ago you could find em for less than $3000 every day of the week, now the decent ones are fetching $6 to $9k, with M6s reaching into the high $20k range! Do yourself a favor and restore it! You can find an M30 and tranny soooo easy, it's just not worth destroying a 6 series for.
