Anyone know if you can use an M20 starter with an M30?

I was just curious because i think my starter died and i have some extra M20 starters.

bavarian auto recycling has some on ebay. you can put in an offer, I put in $30 and they took it.

I don't know if m20 starters work. doubt it. just look at how they match up though.

my m30 starter was a BITCH to get out. i removed the coolant expansion tank and took the top bolt with an angled box wrench (I bought a 6 point one cause the bolt strips so easily). the other one I could get at with a ratchet

you can't, I tried The started itself will bolt up to the block, but the throw of the gear isn't far enough to engage the m30 flywheel
