    Makeshift Stroker

    What do you think about making an m30 stroker? I've heard that replacing the m30 with another allows for the 3.5 to be pushed to 3.6-3.7...is this a mere figment of my imagination?

    If I were to do this obviously custom pistons would be in order, but what crank allows for this? Any ideas?

    I heard that with a euro m30 block and a US spec crank will give you like 3.7L. I'm not sure though.

      What you need is a bucket of money for a S38b38 crank, then you've got to think about rods and probobly custom pistons.

      This is handy for the M30 info, shame i've not got the same for the M engine

          If you look along the top where it says version, you have USA(obvious) ECE(Euro) and Kat(catalytic converter) ?

          I might be wrong though ?

            The euro L block is the hard one to get your hands on... It's the 93.335mm bore block that is essentially the same as the M88 and S38 block. If you can find that and then use the 86mm crank (B34 and B32) you will get a stroker, but you may have to use custom pistons or have some machining done on your stock pistons.

            Check bigcoupe.com for 3.6 and 3.8 liter stroker info.

              Or you could use the standard B34 or B32 block and crank, and just bore it out to like 94-95mm, which I think is the safest you can go without the possibilities of cracking the block. Then use custom pistons for your desired compression ratio.

              You could even use the better flowing B35 head with something like a 284 or 292 cam, but you would have to specify that when ordering the pistons.

              I'm not too sure on what the different M30 pistons there are and what compression ratio's they yield when used in certain applications...
