What will this do to my E30

I'm going to say that is a m30 from an e23 7 series...I'm gonna guess its a 3.5L..im not sure if the 3.3s had 3.2/3.5 stamped on the intake manifold.. my m30 is out of a late model e23 *03/87 production so its a genuine 3.5L... that motor w/o a cat, chip, decent exhaust should get you around 200hp/240ftlbs at the crank...that will make your e30 on par w e36 Ms and maybe an e30 w the s50 swap

what they didn't tell you is its not in the yard cause it was wrecked or didn't run. It just ran out of gas and after filling it up 4 times that week, the guy was just out of money and cut his losses.

        moral of the story....

Don't use an engine that gets below 10mpg

            Fag;)

I would not use that motor for power reasons. They are good on torque, but that is not a huge step up from an m20 i motor. You could stroke an m20 for around the same price as an m30 swap, depending on how far you stroke the m20. It is also a good deal and doing an engine swap with another engine builds your waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles magnet strenth, so I would say do it if the prices add up in your favor.

anybody else want to mention you may not like the extra weight?

M30's a great motor, but heavy.

It's only like 60 lbs heavier... its like same weight as an m20 with a/c equipment. I like having an extra liter of displacement, which can never hurt.

I have an m30 and an m20 in my garage and they look much heavier.

Use the search function, we have been over the weight differences many times... Its like 58 or 59lbs heavier than the M20, that's a fact.

LOOK much heavier. Do some research, the m30 is about 60 lbs heavier like stated before. With the right mounts and a little fire wall work, the weight will not be noticeable, but the power will;).

well, kinda apprehensive about asking a question because i should use the search function, but here it goes anyway: pros to cons,is a rebuild to this engine worth it compared to a budget stroker with seta pistons?

opinions? advice from people that have done it
                        thanks.

Well my thing is that if your going to change your engine, you might as well give yourself an extra liter of displacement for basically the same exact engine, with a timing chain. Then you can stroke that, cam it, chip it, whatever.

the m20 weighs 258lbs the m30 weighs 315lbs and the s50 is something like 325-330ish... i dont think many ppl know that. but no one seems to knock the s50 swap. the U.S s50 isn't even a true M motor its a built up M50 w lil daps of M bits. You can put a cam, chip decent exhaust and make close to the same hp as the s50 but w tons of more tq b/c of the bigger displ of the
                            m30.
