    Mass M30 swap pics

to the Mods..can you make this a sticky???

To all those that have completed their m30 swap how about we make 1 massive thread for any/all pics people have of their m30 swap. I'm sure everyone didn't create their 335s the same way, so how bout everyone post the pics of their swap from start to finish or whatever pics people have on their swap.

I only have a few shitty pics, but I will be sure to post good ones of my next 335i swap. lol.

Ok, yes, this was a worthless post... Except that I got a job at a local shop and now I will have space for an E30 and access to a well equipped garage... So 335i Phase II, here I come!

Nice George, I was looking for your pics earlier. Such a clean swap.

Thanks - it was a very clean install - a few yeas later it looks very much the same. It's nice to keep it that way too....

The tranny I got is only 95% perfect - I have to force second a bit in down shifting from 50+ - oh well - I'm picky - I live for the down shift rev's....

I'm not sure my choice in Diff's is spot on (lsd3.73) - first gear is a launching nighmare, so I use second even from a dead stop sometimes. It's fine the car is a DD - so all is good. It's kinda like putting a 4.10 on a m20, it's not ideal - but it makes you faster....

            Hope that helps.

The M30 swap is so misunderstood it's funny. I've driven a 2.5L e30 s14 m3, with 250 HP - a high revving love-god that I would give lefty to own. But, as sweat as a M3 is, my M30 "feels" faster...It throws you into the seat - in every gear - from 1500rpms to 6200rps...

Even in second at a dead stop, you find your but pushed deep into the seats...

            ,,,HTH

If you are going to get a m30 - ask Joe Funk to find one for you...That is where my motor came from and it was the best part of the swap...

Shipping was not cheap - but - what ever you do - get a running m30 out of a strong e28/24/32...

Junk yard motors are just that..junk.

I've got M30 parts squirting out of... well... I have lots of M30 parts, including two complete short blocks, so what I really need is an E30!

...And mounts... and exhaust... and a transmission... driveshaft... ugh.

Edit: It's a damn shame I don't have another M90 block. Maybe Ken (Auto Da Fe) will sell it back to me?? Ken??

Hahaha, I forgot about your car dude! I have a place to store it and everything now!!

Let me talk to my co-workers on Monday just to make sure I can keep an E30 out back and I'll let you know.

                      Still asking $800?

Nope, mods don't read, or care about this section :)

No where near as clean as George's swap but I've put up plenty of photo's and interesting info for people wanting to do the m30 swap. I made my own engine mount brackets and positioned the engine further back than joe funks brackets position. Pictures are scattered throughout the entire thread:

I'm actually gearing up to do another m30 swap into a 318i shortly aswell :D
