Hey Guys! New to the forum!

    Hello all,
I'm new to the forum but not new to the BMW Communtity. I have been a member at BF.c for a while and have always meant to become a member here. I recently made a purchase tho that greatly increased my need to become a member.

On Saturday I purchased an M30B35 out of a 1987 635csi Auto. I begining to gather all the components to sway this into my E30 and i have heard this is the best place for advice, help, and DIY's.

I don't mean to start of immediatly with the questions but I don't want to waste any time. I have searched around the forums, exspecially in this swap section (which is just awesome) and gathered alot of information. Curently I'm just wondering a few things.

    1. Does anyone have a 5 speed for sale?
    2. Does anyone have mounts for sale for the 3rd mounting position? which is the farthest back correct?
    3. Also this is gonna sound like a noob question but i am really just an E30 guy. I was looking at the harness that came with the motor i picked up. Its still attached but it has me very confused. I know where it connects to the ECU and to the motor, starter, etc, but i can't find where it links to the fuse block??? Am I missing something here?
    4. fourth and final for now, I am swapping into an 85 which is pre-connector at the fuse block. Has anyone done this and can you give me any pointers/ advice on how to handle the wiring?

Well i hope this wasn't to long and i really thank anyone who can help me out! I look forward to be part of this forum, it seems like a really great community!

    Thanks guys!

also here are some pictures of my baby, hope you like them!

What is the production date of the 6 series that you got the motor out of? B35s didn't really start until the 1988 model year, but I think possibly some 11/87 or 12/87 E24s got the B35... Does the intake manifold have " =3.5= " or " 3.2/3.5 " on the side? Does the bellhousing have reference sensors in it? (Assuming you got the auto tranny too... if not nevermind).

Wiring should be pretty straight forward. You will need pinouts for the fuse box (C101) connector of the E30, and one for the C101 for the B35 powered E24. The easiest way to go will probably be cutting the plug off of your E30 harness where it meets the fuse box, and cutting the round plug off of the end of the E24 harness, then just splicing the wires together by function according to your pinouts.

thanks for the response, i was told it was a 3.5 but when he said 1987 i had my doubts. Either way im happy tho. It says 3.2/3.5 on it.

I did not get the auto tranny because it is going into a manual car, i don't believe the auto ever left the donor. As for the wiring, I have an 85 so i don't have any plug on the firewall... the harness goes straight into the fuse block im assuming... i haven't had a chance to tear it apart and find out, and the connector on the end of the B35 harness is rectangular in shape... any thoughts?

Ok, you have a US Spec B34, but thats not a huge deal... a cam, headers, and chip should make it plenty of fun. I have a 272 cam and 059 ECU with a Dinan chip if you are interested.

Correct, no plug on the firewall, all of the wiring interface will be at the fusebox, but there will still be a rectangular plug. You may get lucky and be able to only have to splice a few wires. Start googling for pinouts and have fun!

I believe you can use the Wiring Harness that is currently in your ETA, since it is Motronic 1.0, and the one that your engine came out of is Motronic 1.0. The 059 ECU (which came out of all E28 535i's as well as the 635csi) should plug directly into your harness. You would just need to lengthen the sensor wires, as well as a few other bits.

You need an M30B35 Oil Pump and Pan (came out of the E34/E32 with the M30), as well as an E28 533i/535i Radiator. Also a driveshaft from a 6/86-9/87 325e, mated to a Getrag 260/6 5-speed should fit.

I know there is more, but you should search this section throughly.

I would sell the cam and ECU as a pair for $175 plus shipping... PM me if you are interested.

keep us posted with your progress...
I am in linger over making motor mounts, I was waiting for a few more people to commit. If you get motor mounts make sure that they are for the earlier blocks. With the wiring, I think you can use the eta harness... I cut and spliced my E24 harness, and it wasn't a nightmare, but it wasn't easy either!

i'm trying to go with the the farthest back mounting position... is this a good idea? and I saw your thread about the mounts. If you can beat the over seas price then i will defiantly commit!
