My transmission is out of a 88 535i. I'm not too good with tranny #'s yet.Leave a comment:

Yeah, i saw you were over there. That was just a good pic of a 260. Did you verify it was a 260/5? It looks different than mine, but the bellhousing doesn't look that much smaller. I have a 260/6 out of an E34. If it still has the VIN tag on the side of the tranny you can run it through Realoem to find out what it came from.Leave a comment:

hey that second one is my thread
btw E30SPDFRK if you need anything for a clutch I'd suggest asking steve haygood, his info is in the vendors endorsed over at mye28, he's a real nice guy and got me everything I needed for my clutch.Last edited by chadthestampede; 07-28-2008, 07:51 PM.Leave a comment:

What should I use for a throw out bearing? I was just going to order a normal e28 one, but then I saw that there was a different one for use with the Sachs sport clutch kit, which makes me wonder if it has to be matched to the clutch. I have a e28 tranny(260/5 I think) and an e34 M5 clutch.Leave a comment:

I need to buy new ones anyways, so I was wondering if they would fit.
I have been trying to find that information for Cory (hendrixvodu) for a while also, and I haven't come up with anything.Leave a comment:

I'm sure the e30 ones are fine, but if you do happen to have a set of e34 ones I'd say give it a go.
Sidenote: Would you happen to know anything about swaping an auto m30 engine harness and tps into say a l-jet car, or do you have a pin layout of the c101, c104 etc.. e34 auto harness?Leave a comment:

Back to the rubber motor mounts: I know the e30 mounts will work, but would some from an e34 work also? This seems like it would be better suited for the car.Leave a comment:

ya, if you use the E30 260 flange, you should get away with that DS...Leave a comment:

... you can also change the flange, but it takes a specialty socketLeave a comment:

Yeah, I think I'll just change it for peace of mind.
Since I cant find an 87e driveshaft anywhere around here, would it be possible to put the front of the e28 driveshaft onto the back of mine, or would it be too long/short?Leave a comment:

according to RealOEMThe 87 e's had the larger one though, right? It was the same thing as my 86.
The chain is like $30, but I couldn't find the tensioners fs anywhere. The chain was pretty tight and the tensioner didn't have much wear on it.
My engine has 230k, but it seems to be in great shape so far: Factory cross hatching on the cylinder walls, no ring groove, no crankshaft play and no sludge or spare parts in the oil pan. I was just wondering about it because my timing chain was really loose, but the oil pump wasn't.
15 CHAIN 1 11411707163 $26.51
16 CHAIN TENSIONER 1 11411705055 $16.07
I would say it was probably fairly well taken care of. The other consideration though, is that fitment is tight on an M30 in the E30, so anything that you can do before the install, you should do.
