should i go m30 or m10 turbo? HELP!

ok so i have an 84 m10 ....im not sure what i should do....i really want to go m30 but im not sure if its the best thing, im concerned about the wiring of the engine. is it going to be very difficult to do? my only other option is turbo m10 ...but i am worried about reliability, the m10 in the car has 240k and it runs eh at best, i have an m10 with 100k on it sitting in a parts car that runs very well....so if i do turbo what should i replace? head gasket? anything else????

and the other thing that i worry about is all the parts im going to need for the m30 swap....drive shaft? radiator new brakes? new sub frame?

im not sure what the hell i should do....i need help on this big time!

      Read the m30 sub forum.

That's a tough choice. I bet a m10 can be boosted to some insane numbers.

can it be done reliably? ...i look to see about the 318 to m30 but i couldnt find anything. and will i need stand alone to make a turbo m10 run?

You've got the turbo, I've got the m30. Do it.

If you have a spare m10, and you aren't sure about the m30 swap and all the needed parts, maybe go the turbo route if it won't be a smog issue in your state. That's what I would have done if it wasn't for smog.

Well well, turbo M10 gives 400bhp easily and reliably. M30 gives 220bhp stock, 600bhp easily, reliably.

It all comes to budget, how much are you willing to pay? Cheapest option would be to swap M30, it's also the easiest thing to do in your case. It's straightforward swap, lots of info available in the internet.

Whatever you do, remember to swap old axles and brakes to at least 325 brakes & suspension..

I did M30 and I love it, but Why wouldn't you go M10 turbo? It maintains the factory weight distribution and you'd get more power/liter for about the same amount of money.

If you have the M10 in your car already, i say leave it there and turbo it.

Personally, I like the M30. I've done 2 swaps already and i absolutely love the sound, feel of the M30. Not to mention, i love having a 335i badge on the back of my E30.
