    Calling all Smog Experts

Once again, the m30 fails smog.

Failed for High NOx at 15 and 25mph (gross poluter status at 15mph)
Failed for High HC (150, Max 128)
    Passed HC at 25mph
    Passed CO 15 and 25mph
    %CO2 14.4/14.8
    %O2 0.4/0.1

I keep reading online that a bad egr valve is the main cause of high NOx, but I'm pretty sure the last gen M30 dosen't have an EGR Valve? So wtf...?

        Low Compression

I tested the compression on all six cylinders and they were all at 110psi.

        However the spec is 145-156.

I'm guess that could be the cause of high nox, but what could cause that?

Edit: It seems like I always answer my own questions right when i post things. But I did a wet compression test and the pressure went to 163psi.
So I guess I have bad rings... :-(

          no good... :(

I would put some pure alchohol in the tank, make sure you have a new air filter, really thick oil, new plugs, and hope for the best.

Make sure the car is hot when you take it in there too. Have it scheduled to be done as soon as you pull the car in pretty much. It runs much cleaner when the cat is nice and hot. New oil does help a ton too.

FWIW, I can get you to pass smog if you are willing to drive it up here and spend the money.
